Bob Dylan: "Dark Eyes" from the album "Empire Burlesque", 19853 comments on "Dark Eyes"![]() "Empire Burlesque", Track #10 LITTLEBOYLOST: There is a video on YouTube with Dylan singing this song with Patty Smith in concert. It was soon after her husband and brother died. It's a better version then the one on the album. (04/05/09) DENNIS: L.Lub--- nice insight. another one pointed out is the prophecy about Diana's Tragic Death in Paris. "Oh, the French girl, she's in paradise and a drunken man is at the wheel, hunger pays a heavy price to the falling gods of speed and steel." another read is the slur of Dark Eyes, into Dark guys and except for the rumour of Bob and Marlon Brando, i've never heard of any scandal. (05/06/08) L.LUB: It dawned on me the other day that this song could actually be Jesus looking down on the cross and, despite His love for them, the people are talking and walking and don't understand His loving act and the reality of why He is suffering there. A cock cross, a soldier is in prayer, people moving around but He hears another drum beat, a place where the dead rise and the one of this world fears that. Others think He should seek revenge, but that's not for Him where beauty goes unrecognized. He feels the flames of Hell, where He pays the price for us. This world is not fair, time of short, passion rules the heart, and from the cross all He sees are dark, unknowing eyes. (12/29/07) |
